40 Means Nothing (aka 40 no es Nada) (HBO Max, Series Premiere)

HBO Max New Releases: December 2021 – We have the highlights of what’s coming to and leaving HBO Max in December 2021, including the next chapter of the Matrix franchise!

It’s December 2021 and to celebrate HBO Max is bringing back a classic sci-fi franchise for one last ride. The list of new releases on HBO Max this month is highlighted by The Matrix Resurrections on Dec. 22.

This is the long-awaited return to the reality-bending saga from The Wachowskis. Writer/director Lana Wachowski returns as do stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity, respectively.

This time around it’s 20 years after The Matrix Revolutions and “Neo lives a seemingly ordinary life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco where his therapist prescribes him blue pills.

Neither he nor Trinity recognize each other. However, Morpheus offers him the red pill and reopens his mind to the world of the Matrix.”

While The Matrix Resurrections is the big draw this time around, HBO Max has some other intriguing originals to speak of. https://medinahealth.org/a-royal-christmas-ball-22993-full-movie-123movies/

The David Thewlis and Olivia Colman-starring limited series Landscapers premieres on Dec. 6. That’s followed by Sex and the City revival And Just Like That… on Dec. 9 and post-apocalyptic drama Station Eleven on Dec. 16. Young Justice even gets back in on the action with season 4 part A premiering on Dec. 30.

It’s also a strong month for library titles. Jackie Brown, No Country for Old Men, and Interview with the Vampire arrive on Dec. 1. Then Space Jam: A New Legacy (Dec. 2) and The Suicide Squad (Dec. 23) return to HBO Max a bit later on.

Riverdale Panel Announced For PaleyFest In-Person Return

After two virtual events due to the coronavirus pandemic, PaleyFest is set to return in-person in Los Angeles in April 2022 and the event will include a panel for The CW’s Riverdale.

Last week, the Paley Center for Media announced that the 39th annual PaleyFest LA will take place April 2-10 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

In addition to the Riverdale panel, panels for NBC’s This is Us and AMC’s Better Call Saul were also announced. The full schedule and lineup will be announced on January 18th.

“We are thrilled to return in person, once again, to celebrate television’s best and brightest at the Dolby Theatre,” President and CEO of the Paley Center Maureen Reidy said (via Deadline).

“PaleyFest LA provides devoted fans and Paley Members with unparalleled access to leading talent and creative minds from today’s top TV shows for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Back in March of 2020, PaleyFest was postponed due to concerns about the then-emerging pandemic and ended up going virtual that year and again in 2021, as did many other in-person conventions and festivals.

Such events have started to return to in-person gatherings in recent months, including ReedPop’s C2E2 which took place in Chicago last weekend.

As for Riverdale, the fan-favorite series aired its 100th episode last week on Wednesday, concluding its surreal “Rivervale” arc and setting the stage for what’s next for the series when it begins its sixth season in earnest after a midseason break.

The series is currently set to return with new episodes on Sunday, March 6th — a new night for the series — and star Vanessa Morgan has previously teased that the events of “Rivervale” will have a lasting impact.

“There’s going to be a lot of crazy, cool stuff for Toni’s storyline in Season 6. We have other dimensions,” Toni Topaz actress Vanessa Morgan recently told Us Weekly.

“It’s going to be very, very cool [and] unlike any other season. I love, like, the witchy magic aspect of it all.”

“If you believe [in other dimensions] then there are alternate realities all going on at the same time, different versions, different outcomes, all playing out at your life at the same time,”

Morgan continued.

“I believe in that, and I feel like we’re kind of touching on that. And then I think toward the end of the season, it’ll all come together, and you’ll really realize how it all relates.”

PaleyFest LA is set to take place April 2-10, 2022.

Current Ring of Honor Champion Takes Part in WWE Tryout

WWE held its latest round of tryouts at the WWE Performance Center this past week and a number of photos released from the event have confirmed who took part this time around.

Among those participating was Rok-C (real name Carla Gonzalez), a 20-year-old trainee of Booker T and the reigning Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.

While WWE has seemingly pulled back on recruiting stars of the independent scene over the past year, Gonzalez could be viewed as a can’t-miss prospect given her technical prowess at such a young age.

As of now, it’s unknown whether or not she was offered a contract at the end of the tryout.

Booker T talked about her potential in an interview with ComicBook earlier this year not long after Ring of Honor announced its hiatus.

“I haven’t talked to her since that, but she put out something on Twitter and she was… It is so true what she was saying, she said, from what I taught her with her time at Reality of Wrestling, I could trust her to be okay, no matter what.

This is just a hiccup, just a bump in the road,” Booker said. “Man, she’s talented, man. It’s like when WCW closed, people ask me, “Man, what are you going to do?” I said, ‘Man, I’m going to WWF.

It’s that simple. I’m not thinking about [it]. I’m the talent.’ Rok-C man, she is talented. That’s why she’s the youngest Reality of Wrestling champion at 16. That’s why she’s the first ROH Women’s World champion at 19.

Man, her destiny man, is solid. So all she got to do is just stay in shape and keep her head on straight, and she’s going to be okay.”

“I talk to my guys all the time, I say, ‘When you get a moment, it is going to be there for just that, a moment. And it’s going to be gone just like that.

You got to do what? You got to seize the moment,'” he added. “And that’s what I try to teach my guys more important than anything.

Everything in wrestling is going to be a test and you got to think about everything in that form, and then you got to figure out how to pass the test.”

Matt Murdock Defends Spider-Man and Peter Parker In Court

Spider-Man gets his day in court when blind attorney-at-law Matt Murdock, secretly the vigilante Daredevil of Hell’s Kitchen, represents the wall-crawler — and his alter-ego Peter Parker — in the Marvel comics.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, an unmasked Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is accused of murdering Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) after The Daily Bugle’s J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) exposes Spider-Man’s secret identity.

With the webhead branded Public Enemy #1, it takes a really good lawyer to clear Peter of charges and untangle his legal troubles.

In the comics, Murdock comes to the aide of a wrongfully accused Peter Parker — and in another case, Spider-Man — in the courtroom.

The Amazing Spider-Man #219, “Peter Parker — Criminal!,” lands Peter behind bars after using his spider powers to break into Ryker’s Island prison.

There to shoot an exposé that would force the prison to address its poor security, the Daily Bugle photographer gets locked up and his camera confiscated during a prison break attempted by inmates Jonas Harrow, Grey Gargoyle, and Armand DuBroth.

In court, lawyer Matt Murdock makes his case for Peter Parker: a journalist not guilty of any offense more serious than trespassing.

When DuBroth and the prosecution allege Peter is behind several breakouts, the judge orders Peter held for trial with a pending bail of $50,000. From behind bars, he asks Matt to find his camera containing photographic evidence that will clear Peter Parker’s name.

Bailed out by Aunt May and her friends, Peter returns to Ryker’s as Spider-Man and tracks down the film with photographic proof it was DuBroth — not Peter Parker — who conspired with the prison warden to engineer the breakouts.

Murdock doesn’t yet know Peter is Daredevil’s superhero ally Spider-Man: he won’t learn that secret until his superhuman senses recognize Peter’s heartbeat in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #107.

After Doctor Strange solves Peter Parker’s identity crisis and makes the world forget Spider-Man unmasked during Civil War, Matt serves as Spider-Man’s legal counsel during the Brand New Day storyline.

In The Amazing Spider-Man: Extra #1, the masked Spider-Man pleads not guilty when he’s charged with numerous felonies, including multiple counts of murder in the second degree and multiple counts of obstruction of justice.

Framed for the serial “Spider-Tracer killings” and facing a lawsuit from a construction worker he saved from falling to his death, Spider-Man is the defendant in the civil suit threatening to publicly unmask the costumed crime-fighter a second time.

Challenging the law and the Superhuman Registration Act, Matt makes the case to keep Spider-Man’s secret identity a secret — by putting the onus on the prosecution to prove who wore the costume on the day of the construction worker’s near-fatal fall.

Recalling how Spider-Man wore Matt’s costume to get him out of a lawsuit against Daredevil (in Daredevil Vol. 2 #20-25), Matt’s superhero friends pose as web-swinging, wall-crawling Spider-Men: the X-Men’s Nightcrawler, Shang-Chi, Clint Barton, Patriot, Iron Fist, Araña, and Black Cat. With no evidence against his client, Matt gets the civil action against Spider-Man dismissed.

Star Wars: Andor Actor Teases His Character Has a “Lot of Different Faces”

The Book of Boba Fett is finally premiering on Disney+ this month, but it’s not the only Star Wars content to look forward to from the streaming service.

Not only is the third season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and the first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi expected to drop in 2022, but fans will also be treated to Star Wars: Andor, the Rogue One spin-off series starring Diego Luna.

Another big star who is going to be featured in the show is Stellan Skarsgård whose acting credits range from Mamma Mia to Dune. However, many people know his best as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Erik Selvig, so it’s exciting to have him back in a Disney franchise.

During a recent chat with Screen Rant, Skarsgård talked about the show and teased what fans can expect from his character.

“The writing is really good. It’s the same writer that did Rogue One. And also to work with Diego Luna, who’s an old friend. So I was excited by that. And then my character is… Well, you’ll see. It’s fun to play because he has a lot of different faces to show,” Skarsgård teased.

This is not the first time Skarsgård has praised Roge One writer, Tony Gilroy. In another recent interview with The Daily Beast, he talked about his appreciation of the film.

“As you know, they’ll shoot me if I say anything! I can’t even get a proper script. It’s printed on red paper so I can’t make any copies of it, it’s ridiculous!… But when I saw Rogue One, it had much more atmosphere and seemed a little more mature-and that was Tony Gilroy, who’s the showrunner on this one.

So, hopefully, this one will be a little more than little plastic people falling over.”

Star Wars: Andor takes place five years before Rogue One, and a new casting rumor suggests Andy Serkis is returning as the villainous Supreme Leader Snoke.

While the rumor has yet to be confirmed, Luna has confirmed Andor will see some familiar faces to Star Wars fans.

“You’ll definitely see familiar faces,” Luna told Deadline. “I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen [Rogue One] already.

No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending.”

Luke Skywalker Trends As Star Wars Fans Celebrate First Anniversary of Big Cameo

December 18, 2021 marks one year since the second season finale of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Fans will have to wait a little longer for the show’s third season as Disney+ makes way for the upcoming premiere of The Book of Boba Fett.

However, that’s not stopping fans from reminiscing about the first anniversary of, “The Rescue,” which featured a shocking cameo by Luke Skywalker.

In fact, Luke Skywalker is currently trending on Twitter. Before checking out some of the fan appreciation tweets, here’s what Mark Hamill had to say about his return to Star Wars.

“Talk about unexpected,” Hamill told Jimmy Fallon. “I had finished playing that part, I never expected to do it again and I thought if they ever tell stories of Luke in that period — post the originals and pre-sequels — they’d get an age-appropriate actor.

So when Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni told me about what they wanted to do I was just stunned. One of the main things with The Mandalorian is that you are sworn to secrecy.

I can’t talk about it with my family, even now!”

Star Wars: Rogue One Director Never Met Carrie Fisher Before Her Death

To mark the occasion of five years since the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, director Gareth Edwards sat down with StarWars.com for an extensive retrospective interview about the 2016 movie and first spin-off in the franchise’s history.

The talk between the filmmaker and the official website for the series went through a wide range of topics like what it’s like to film Darth Vader, his initial reactions to learning the plot of the movie, and also how it handled using Carrie Fisher’s, Princess Leia.

Though Fisher herself wasn’t in the movie, ILM recreated her iconic look from the original Star Wars for the film’s last shot. Sadly, Edwards confirmed that he never got to meet Fisher before her death.

Rogue One was released in theaters on December 16, 2016, and Fisher passed away just eleven days later on December 27, 2016.

Speaking in the interview, Edwards revealed that though they never met there was an opportunity, which was missed. “No, I didn’t (meet her).

The closest I got, I got to visit the set of The Force Awakens, and we were hanging out there for half a day or something,” Edwards said. “I remember being by the trailers and Carrie came out from the makeup trailer, I guess, just brushed right past me to go in.

There were a lot of people standing around, so she went just right past me to head on to the set. I remember just, like anyone would, doing a double-take and looking at everyone else going, “Oh, my God! That was Carrie Fisher!”

Edwards confirmed that at the time this missed opportunity occurred that they were already aware that their plan of a young Leia to conclude Rogue One was already in the planning stages, but he didn’t know if Fisher was aware.

He continued “Kathy (Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm), essentially, was the one to talk to her about it all.
And she was in full agreement and happy about it. So we just carried on. I always thought, ‘I guess I’ll get to see her at the premiere or at some point afterward, and be able to thank her personally.’
And obviously, that was not possible. It came completely out of the blue. She is such a hero to everyone. It’s sad that I never got to properly meet her.”
